ฮิโรชิ ฟูจิวาร่า คือผู้ที่มีชื่อเสียงโด่งดังระดับโลกในวงการสตรีทแฟชั่น ใครๆก็เรียกเขาว่า “Godfather of Street Fashion” ฮิโรชิมองเห็นความสัมพันธ์ของแฟชั่นและดนตรีที่เข้ากันได้ลงตัว สิ่งนี้ทำให้เกิดสังคมและวัฒนธรรมขึ้นในแต่ละที่ซึ่งต่างก็มีเอกลักษณ์เฉพาะตนโดยการแสดงออกถึงตัวตนผ่านแฟชั่นและดนตรี ฮิโรชินำคอนเซ็ปต์เหล่านี้มาเริ่มต้นเผยแพร่ที่ถนนฮาราจุกุในเมืองโตเกียวประเทศญี่ปุ่นที่เห็นได้ชัดถึงการเปลี่ยนแปลงของวงการแฟชั่นในยุคปลายปี80 เขาเริ่มสร้างแบรนด์ของตัวเองโดยตั้งชื่อว่า Goodenough แบรนด์นี้ได้ทำให้วงการแฟชั่นระดับสูงหันมาสนใจในสตรีทแฟชั่นกันมากขึ้นสินค้าที่ฮิโรชิ ได้ออกแบบ และได้ร่วมออกแบบกับร้านค้าอีกมากมาย สร้างชื่อเสียงให้วงการสตรีทแฟชั่นในระดับโลก ทำให้คนหันมาซื้อสินค้าญี่ปุ่นมากขึ้นทุกวัน นอกจากผลงานในระดับสากล ระดับโลกแล้ว Hiroshi Fujiwra ยังได้ออกแบบ Logo ใหม่มอบให้ Soul4street อีกด้วย และแล้ววันนี้ทางทีมงานของเราก็ได้มีโอกาสพบและสนทนากับเขาในที่สุด
S4S : ก่อนหน้านี้คุณเคยมาประเทศไทยมาก่อนมั๊ย และครั้งก่อนนั้นกับครั้งนี้มันต่างกันมากน้อยแค่ไหน
HF : ผมเคยมากรุงเทพแล้วครั้งหนึ่งเมื่อ 10 ปีที่แล้ว จากวันนั้นจนถึงตอนนี้ที่ผมมาทุกอย่างเปลี่ยนแปลงไปอย่างรวดเร็วมากๆ สถานที่ต่างๆจากในอดีตเปลี่ยนไปพร้อมกับความเจริญ
S4S : Street Fashion ในไทยตอนนี้ในสายตาคุณเป็นอย่างไรบ้าง
HF : ด้วยระยะที่ผมอยู่กรุงเทพค่อยข้างสั้นผมจึงยังไม่เห็นอะไรที่เป็น street fashion ได้ชัดเจนมากนัก แต่ผมได้มีโอกาสเดินที่ห้าง Siam Center ซึ่งผมได้เห็นงานออกแบบและดีไซน์หลายๆอย่างที่สะดุดตา
S4S : คุณเริ่มสนใจในสตรีทแฟชั่นตั้งแต่เมื่อไหร่
HF : ตอนนั้นผมไม่ทราบว่าอะไรคือสตรีทแฟชั่นผมจำได้แค่ว่าผมสนใจในดนตรี Punk ช่วง 1977 ซึ่งผมเองได้เดินทางไป London อยู่บ่อยๆและได้เรียนรู้ถึงศิลปวัฒนธรรมจากที่นั่น แล้วหลังจากนั้นตามมาด้วยอิทธิพลของดนตรี Hip Hop ในยุค 80’s ในตอนนั้นเองที่แบรนด์เสื้อผ้า Stussy กำลังมาแรงมากในอเมริกาและญี่ปุ่น และผมเป็นคนแรกๆที่ใส่เสื้อผ้าแบรนด์นี้ เมื่อเจ้าของแบรนด์ Sean Stussy มาที่ญี่ปุ่นเราจึงได้เจอและได้คุยกันถึงเรื่องแฟชั่น ผมเริ่มจะเห็นความสัมพันธ์ของแฟชั่นและเพลงที่เกิดขึ้น จากนั้นทุกอย่างก็เกิดขึ้น
S4S : นอกจากเป็นแฟชั่นดีไซเนอร์แล้วคุณเป็นดีเจและเล่นกีตาร์ตามงานต่างๆด้วยอยากทราบว่าคุณชอบดนตรีแนวไหนมากที่สุด
HF : ผมไม่ได้เจาะจงว่าจะต้องเป็นแนวไหนผมพยายามหางานที่มีคุณภาพและใหม่ฟังอย่างเสมอตอนนี้ผมชอบงานของ King Krule ศิลปินจากประเทศอังกฤษ
S4S : ตอนนี้คุณมีผลงานการออกแบบอะไรใหม่ๆบ้าง
HF : ตอนนี้ผมเริ่มอิ่มตัวกับการออกแบบโลโก้ ซึ่งมันก็อยู่ตัวแล้ว ผมกำลังจะเริ่มคิดงานออกแบบใหม่ๆอยู่ในตอนนี้นอกจากนั้นก็มีผลงานได้ทำกับ VANQUISH และ NIKE และก็กำลังจะเปิดร้าน Select Shop ที่จะนำของที่ตนเองชอบมาไว้ในร้านนี้
S4S : อะไรคือแรงบันดาลใจในการออกแบบสำหรับคุณ
HF : ไม่มีอะไรเป็นเฉพาะเจาะจงสำหรับผมทุกอย่างรอบๆตัวผมคือแรงบันดาลใจทั้งหมดทุกอย่างเกิดขึ้นของมันเอง
S4S : ผลงานล่าสุดที่พวกเราจะได้เห็นในเร็วๆนี้มีอะไรบ้าง
HF : ผมมีงานร่วมกับร้านร้านหนึ่งในฐานะผู้ออกแบบร้าน ดูแลเรื่องคอนเซ็ปต์ของร้านทั้งหมด น่าจะได้เห็นกันในเร็วๆนี้
S4S : ผลงานการออกแบบรองเท้าให้กับ Nike ของคุณเป็นที่น่าประทับใจมาก ไม่ว่าจะเป็นรุ่นไหนก็จะหมดอย่างรวดเร็ว จริงๆแล้วคุณชอบรองเท้าคู่ไหนที่คุณชอบมากที่สุด
HF : ผมชอบใส่ Nike tennis classic vintage และ LD1000 ที่สุด
S4S : แฟชั่นในญี่ปุ่นนั้นเปลี่ยนไปมากช่วงไหนเป็นช่วงที่ได้เห็นความเปลี่ยนแปลงชัดที่สุด
HF : ช่วงปลายๆ ปี80 และเริ่มต้น ปี90เป็นช่วงที่วงการแฟชั่นนั้นเปลี่ยนไปอย่างชัดเจน เป็นช่วงที่ harajuku เปลี่ยนแปลงมาเป็น street wear เช่นแบรนด์อย่าง Stussy และ A Bathing Ape ก็เกิดขึ้นช่วงนั้นด้วย
S4S : อยากให้คุณช่วยให้รายละเอียดกับกับการออกแบบโลโก้ใหม่ของเว็บ Soul4Street
HF : แน่นอนว่าเว็บ Soul4Street และผมนั้นเป็น partner กันอยู่ในตอนนี้ ซึ่งการออกแบบโลโก้ในครั้งนี้นั้นผมเริ่มจากคิดว่าจะออกแบบ โลโก้ออกมาทรงไหนดี วงกลมก็เบื่อแล้ว สี่เหลี่ยมหรือทรงอื่นๆ ก็เบื่อแล้ว และแรงบันดาลใจจาก dogtag มาเป็นกรอบและตรงกางจะเป็นเลข 4 ในอักษรโรมันคือ IV โดยโลโก้ของเว็บที่ผมออกแบบนี้นั้นจะคล้ายกับโลโก้ใหม่ของ Fragment ที่เป็น dogtag แล้ะสายฟ้าตรงกลาง ซึ่งผมออกแบบให้ดูเรียบง่ายที่สุดเพื่อสามารถนำไปใช้วางไว้กับสิ่งต่างๆได้ลงตัว
S4S : คุณเป็นแรงบันดาลใจให้กับใครหลายๆคนในเมืองไทยพวกเราอยากทราบว่าเราจะมีโอกาสได้พบคุณในเมืองไทยอีกหรือเปล่า
HF : ผมยินดีเสมอที่จะกลับมา ถ้าหากทาง Soul4street มีอะไรจะให้ช่วยเหลือ ผมก็ยินดีกลับมาแน่นอน
S4S : มีอะไรอยากจะฝากถึงพวกเราที่รอดูผลงานของคุณอยู่ไหม
HF : ผมหวังว่าจะได้ทำงานร่วมกับทาง Soul4Street อาจจะเป็นงานที่ใหม่ๆ ไม่เคยทำมาก่อน อาจจะเช่นวีดีโอแนวสารคดี ที่ไห้ความรู้และมีประโยชน์กับวงการสตรีทแฟชั่นในเมืองไทย เป็นอะไรที่เหมาะสมกับคนที่นี่ ผมคิดว่ามันน่าจะเป็นงานที่น่าสนใจมาก
Hiroshi Fujiwara, whom his reputation across the globe brought him, and has been an icon of, “Godfather of Street Fashion.” A seamless barrier of fashion and music united as a culture, a youthful individual expression, motivated HF to bring this phenomenon to Harajuku in 1989, where he began his own clothing line, Goodenough, a kick start of the design of street wear among high fashion momentum. His products and collaborated works earn popularity worldwide and become one of the biggest shifts in Asian street wear industry. As today, Hiroshi Fujiwara has arrived Bangkok for the launch of DENIM by Vanquish x Fragment at Sneaka Villa* Store Siam Square., Our team finally had a grateful chance to meet. He shared with us some great stories.
S4S : What are the differences you have seen comparing to your previous visit to Thailand?
HF : “I have been in Bangkok 10 years ago. From then until now, everything has changed so fast. Changes haved been made to many places because of the civilization.”
S4S : What is your perspective towards street fashion in Thailand?
HF : “My visit was a short period of time so I didn’t see much of the street fashion here just yet. I had a chance to walk around Siam Center where I have seen many outstanding design pieces.”
S4S : When did you firstly start your interest in street fashion?
HF : “I didn’t know what is street fashion back then, I do remember interested in music, Punk around 1977, where I frequently traveled to London and then Hip-hop had a strong influence later on in 1980s. Also, Stussy was very popular in United States and Japan during that time. When the brand founder, Sean Stussy, visited Japan, we began to talk about fashion. I started to see the connection between fashion and music. Somehow, it just happened.”
S4S : Besides being a renowned fashion designer, you are also a Dj, and play your guitar at many gigs, which kind of music you like the most?
HF : "I do not have a specific type of music, mostly everything. All I do is trying and seeking for quality works and fresh. Now I always listen to King Krule from United Kingdom.”
S4S : What are your new coming projects?
HF : “I think now my role in designing logo has been fed up for awhile and its already sustained. Currently, I am starting with new design projects. Besides that, there are collaborated works with VANQUISH and NIKE. Also, I am will soon launch a selected shop and mostly based on my preference.”
S4S : What inspires you?
HF : “Nothing in particular. I think everything around me is my inspiration. Everything just happens. “
S4S : What are your coming projects for us to see in near future?
HF : “Well, I will be collaborating with a brand, playing part as a shop designer, responsible for conceptual design process. “
S4S : Your collaborated works with Nike are very impressive, which models are your favorites?
HF : “I always like Nike tennis classic vintage and classic LD 1000.”
S4S : In what year did Japanese fashion movement has a significant shift?
HF : “At late 80s and the beginning of 90s, it was the time that fashion industry suddenly changed where you can see Harajuku was influenced by street fashion. It was the arrival time of Stussy and A Bathing Ape. It was clearly a major change in street fashion industry.”
S4S : Tell us more about your new logo for Soul4Street website?
HF : “Surely, Soul4Street and I are partner and when I started designing the logo, I was thinking about the overall shape. Circular are boring, square or other geometrics are also boring for me. I was inspired by dogtag as a outline and number 4 (in roman writing form) is actually IV in the center. This logo is quite similar to Fragment’s new logo where the center is the lightning sign. I planned to design as simple as possible so it is relevant to many things.”
S4S : You have been an inspiration for many people in Thailand, we would like to know if we would meet you again in Thailand soon?
HF : “If there’s anything I can do, please do let me know. I am more happy to be here and meet all of you.”
S4S : Anything else you want to say to your fans?
HF : “I am looking forward to collaborate with Soul4Street in documentary line that is knowledgeable and relevant to Thai fashion street wear industry. I think this would be a great project.
