The UNCHAINED REDEMPTION CONCERT marks the long-awaited comeback of ‘ANNALYNN’, a return after nearly a year out of the spotlight. After facing a crisis that felt like a ticking time bomb, the band has finally emerged. Today, S4S sits down with ANNALYNN for their first open conversation since weathering the storm!

ANNALYNN is a long-standing name in Thailand’s metalcore scene. Currently, the band consists of four members: Eak – Eakaratch Kaewsomdej (bass), Pob – Nuttapop Chuensuktananun (guitar/vocals), Boss – Supatchaya Sompong (guitar), and Mong – Nattabhol Larp-ar-parat (drums). Together, the four of them are returning, fueled by passion and the hope of ending their musical journey on a high note, doing what they love most.
ถ้านับจากวันนี้ ‘ANNALYNN’ จะมีอายุครบ 22 ปีเข้าไปแล้วบนเส้นทางดนตรีอันเดอร์กราวด์ ตั้งแต่ก่อตั้งวงในปี 2003 โดยเริ่มจากการเป็นวงดนตรีสายประกวด ก่อนได้รับโอกาสเซ็นสัญญากับค่ายเพลงแรกอย่าง ‘Sexy Pink Studios’ จนปัจจุบันสังกัดอยู่ค่าย ‘Greyscale Records’ แน่นอนว่าการที่วงมีอายุมายาวนานย่อมมีการผลัดเปลี่ยนสมาชิกอยู่บ่อยครั้ง อะไรเป็นจุดเริ่มต้นที่ทำให้กลายมาเป็นไลน์อัพในปัจจุบัน ไปรู้จักกันได้ยังไงครับ?
Eak: แน่นอนครับว่าเรามีการเปลี่ยนสมาชิกบ่อยครั้ง สมาชิกปัจจุบันเริ่มจากการได้ ‘ม้ง’ เข้ามาเป็นมือกลองของวงก่อนคนแรก ต่อด้วยเจอกับ ‘ภพ’ เข้ามาเป็นมือกีตาร์ และมือกีตาร์อีกคนก็คือ ‘บอส’ เป็นคนสุดท้ายครับ
S4S: นิยามของแต่ละคนมองว่าดนตรีเมทัลคอร์เป็นแบบไหน?
Eak: เมทัลคอร์สำหรับผม คือ เมทัล + ฮาร์ดคอร์ มันไม่จำเป็นจะต้องหนักขนาดฮาร์ดคอร์ แต่มีการผสมผสานเหมือนแนวดนตรีอื่น ๆ เข้ามาด้วย
Pob: ผมนิยามเหมือนพี่เอกเลยครับ แต่ผมมองว่าเมทัลคอร์ในยุคนี้มันเปลี่ยนไป เปลี่ยนไปจากยุคที่ผมเริ่มเล่นดนตรี อย่างพวกบรรยากาศ หรือซาวด์ต่าง ๆ มันเปลี่ยนไปหมดแล้ว ซึ่งในยุคนี้มันสามารถดึงองค์ประกอบอื่น ๆ ที่เราชอบมาใช้ โดยไม่ได้ยึดติดว่าต้องเป็นเมทัลคอร์ 100% ครับ
Boss: ดนตรีเมทัลสำหรับผม มันอยู่ตรงกลางระหว่างแนวดนตรีอื่น ๆ ที่สามารถนำองค์ประกอบจากแนวดนตรีอื่นมาผสมแล้วดูไม่เขินมาก
Mong: เมทัลคอร์ ผมมองว่ามันเป็นดนตรีแห่งการเปลี่ยนแปลง เพราะก่อนจะมีเมทัลคอร์ มันจะมีแนวดนตรีอื่นมาก่อนอย่าง Heavy Metal หรือ Thrash Metal ที่มีจุดเริ่มต้นมาก่อน ทำให้วงดนตรีเมทัลคอร์สมัยนี้ หยิบแนวดนตรีเมทัลสมัยก่อนมาผสมผสานกับยุคสมัยปัจจุบัน ทำให้มันย่อยง่าย เข้าใจง่ายมากขึ้น และทุกวันนี้เมทัลคอร์ก็ยังพัฒนาต่อมาเรื่อย ๆ ครับ
การทำวงดนตรีได้อย่างยาวนานถึง 20 กว่าปี ด้วยแนวเพลงเมทัลคอร์ที่ถือเป็นแนวเพลงที่เฉพาะกลุ่มในบ้านเรา
Eak: มองว่าไม่ว่าจะดนตรีแนวไหน ความชอบมันต้องมาก่อน สมมติถ้าผมเป็นแรปเปอร์ก็ต้องชอบดนตรีฮิปฮอป อย่างอันนี้ที่ทำเมทัลคอร์ก็เพราะชอบ หลัก ๆ คือความชอบมาก่อน เรื่องอื่น ๆ ตามมาทีหลัง ถึงแม้ดนตรีเมทัลคอร์จะไม่ใช่กระแสหลักในบ้านเรา เป็นเพียง 1% สำหรับผมก็ถือว่าเยอะแล้วครับ
Pob: ผมเริ่มมาจากการเล่นกีตาร์ก่อน ผมฝึกกีตาร์มาจากวงแบบ As I Lay Dying จะไม่ใช่แนวทฤษฎีเยอะ ที่เลือกเล่นแนวนี้เพราะ รู้สึกว่าเมทัลคอร์มันเป็นตัวตนของผมที่สุดแล้ว
Boss: เราโตมาในช่วงยุค 2000’s ซึ่งช่วงนั้นแนวเมทัลคอร์กำลังมา เราพึ่งเริ่มเล่นกีตาร์ด้วย รู้สึกว่าเมทัลคอร์มีอิทธิพลสำหรับเรา ช่วงนั้นมีเพื่อนที่ฟังแนวนี้ด้วยเลยเริ่มซึมซับมาเรื่อย ๆ

ความชอบและรักในเสียงดนตรีเมทัลของทุกคนในวงทำให้มาถึงจุดนี้ได้ แม้การเล่นดนตรีแนวนี้จะมีผู้ฟังเฉพาะกลุ่ม แต่การที่ได้ผลิตเพลงดี ๆ ออกมาให้เหล่าผู้ฟังได้ฟัง ถือว่าเป็นเป้าหมายเล็ก ๆ ความสุขเล็ก ๆ ที่ทำให้ ‘ANNALYNN’ สามารถยืนหยัดยึดมั่นในเส้นทางสายดนตรีนี้มากว่า 22 ปีและยังคงก้าวต่อไปอย่างไม่หยุดนิ่งที่จะทำผลงานออกมาตอบสนองความชอบส่วนตัวและแฟนเพลงที่รอคอยผลงานจากพวกเขาเสมอ

Eak: พูดจริง ๆ ว่ารับมือยากมากกับเรื่องนี้ เพราะการเปลี่ยนนักร้อง ถ้าเปรียบเทียบกับวงที่ดังมาก ๆ เหมือนเปลี่ยนโลโก้ของวง แต่สำหรับ ‘ANNALYNN’ ไม่อยากไปยึดติดอยู่กับนักร้องนำเพียงอย่างเดียว แต่ช่วงนี้ที่หานักร้องนำคนใหม่ยาก เพราะนักร้องแนวนี้ในบ้านเราค่อนข้างน้อย การที่เราทำวงมานาน มันก็จะมีหลักเกณฑ์ต่าง ๆ เข้ามาในการคัดเลือก ซึ่งไม่เป็นไรเลยถ้าจะเจอเดี๋ยวก็เจอ
S4S: แล้วรู้สึกยังไงกับปัญหาครั้งนี้ครับ?
Eak: มันพังครับ พังทั้งหมด ไม่ใช่แค่เรา แต่คนในวงก็พังไปด้วย ความเชื่อใจที่มีร่วมกันในวงก็พังไปด้วย ซึ่งระเบิดลูกนี้ใหญ่มากครับ
It’s their love for metal and deep-rooted passion for the music that has brought ANNALYNN this far. Even though metalcore may be a niche genre with a specific audience, being able to create music that resonates with their listeners is a small but meaningful goal, one that brings real joy. And it’s this very joy that has fueled ANNALYNN’s unwavering commitment to their path for over 22 years, as they continue to move forward, making music that reflects who they are and connects with the fans who have always waited for their next release.
S4S: Even though the band has had many lineup changes over the years, you’ve never had to change lead vocalists before, something that’s often the most recognizable part of any band. When the band faced that issue, how did you handle it?
Eak: Honestly, it was really hard to deal with. Changing the lead vocalist, if you compare it to a big, well-known band, it’s almost like changing the band’s logo. But for us in ANNALYNN, we didn’t want to be too fixated on having just one frontman. That said, it’s tough to find a new vocalist, especially in Thailand, where this style is already pretty rare. And since we’ve been doing this for so long, there are certain standards we’ve set. Still, we’re okay with taking the time. When the right person comes along, we’ll know.
S4S: How did you feel during that time?
Eak: It was a total collapse. Not just for me, everyone in the band broke down. The trust we had in each other just fell apart. That whole situation… it was like a massive explosion.
They’ve managed to keep the band going for over 20 years with metalcore, a genre that still has a pretty niche following in Thailand.
Eak: No matter the genre, it all starts with love. If I were a rapper, I’d have to genuinely love hip-hop. It’s the same with metalcore. I make this music because I love it. That’s the main thing. Everything else comes after. Even though metalcore isn’t a mainstream genre here, maybe it’s just 1% of the scene. But for me, that 1% is more than enough.
Pob: I actually started by just playing guitar. I learned from bands like As I Lay Dying, not too heavy on theory. I chose this genre because metalcore just feels the most “me.”
Boss: I grew up during the 2000s, when metalcore was really booming. That was right when I started learning guitar. The genre had a big impact on me. Plus, my friends were listening to it too, so I naturally soaked it all in.
Mong: I’ve listened to all kinds of metal, and I’ve never been tied to just one style. Like Boss said, metalcore sits in the middle, it can evolve with the times. And as a drummer, since drums don’t have chords, I can go wild with ideas. I get to fuse different genres into metalcore in a way that works. For me, it’s the best creative outlet.
Eak: I see metalcore as a combination of metal and hardcore. It doesn’t always have to be super heavy like hardcore, there’s room to mix in other styles, kind of like how genres naturally blend and evolve.
Pob: I’d define it the same way Eak does. But I think metalcore today has changed a lot since I first started playing. The vibe, the sound, it’s all evolved. These days, we can pull in elements we like without needing to stick strictly to 100% metalcore.
Boss: To me, metalcore sits right in the middle. It blends aspects of other genres in a way that feels natural, not awkward or forced.
Mong: I see metalcore as a genre of transformation. Before metalcore existed, we had heavy metal and thrash metal as its roots. Modern metalcore bands blend those older metal styles with the present-day sound, making it more digestible and easier to connect with. And even now, metalcore keeps evolving.
Formed in 2003, ‘ANNALYNN’ has been a driving force in Thailand’s underground music scene for 22 years. Starting out as a band playing contests, they landed their first record deal with ‘Sexy Pink Studios’ and now call ‘Greyscale Records’ home. Naturally, a band with such longevity has gone through many lineup changes. But what led to the formation of this current lineup? And how did they all first meet?
Eak: Of course, we’ve gone through several lineup changes over the years. The current lineup started when ‘Mong’ joined us as the drummer. Then we met ‘Pob’, who came in as a guitarist. And finally, ‘Boss’ was the last to join as our second guitarist.
S4S: How would each of you define metalcore music?

Mong: มันค้างคา มันจบไม่สวย ส่วนหนึ่งที่กลับมาเพราะมีแฟนเพลงที่ยังรอเราอยู่
S4S: แล้วเป้าหมายที่วางไว้ในตอนนี้ของวง คืออะไร?
Pob: ตอนนี้วงยังมีสัญญากับค่าย ‘Greyscale Records’ อยู่ครับ ตั้งใจว่าจะอยู่จนจบสัญญาครับ แล้วถึงตอนนั้นถ้ายังไปต่อได้ค่อยว่ากันอีกที

Mong: UNCHAINED REDEMPTION CONCERT เหมือนเป็นการปลดโซ่ตรวนที่คอยรั้งพวกเราไว้ให้พวกเราไม่สามารถก้าวเดินต่อไป พร้อมเปิดประตูสู่บานใหม่ เป็นการกลับมาในรูปแบบใหม่ ซึ่งรวมไปถึงเพลงใหม่ที่เพิ่งปล่อยไปอย่าง ‘White Flags’ ที่เป็นทิศทางใหม่ของ ‘ANNALYNN’ ด้วยครับ

After nearly a full year away from the scene, ‘ANNALYNN’ is back and burning bright with the ‘UNCHAINED REDEMPTION CONCERT’, a show that represents breaking free from everything that’s held them back during this time.
S4S: Tell us about the idea behind your comeback show, UNCHAINED REDEMPTION CONCERT.
Mong: This concert is about unshackling ourselves from everything that’s been weighing us down. It’s our way of turning the page and stepping into something new. That includes the release of ‘White Flags’, which marks a fresh direction for ‘ANNALYNN’ as well.
Pob: What makes this concert special is the concept of ONE SONG/ONE GUEST. We’re performing ANNALYNN songs, but each one is sung by a different guest vocalist. We’ve got 16 amazing artists joining us (Benz Stray Wolves, Jay Defying Decay, Jeddy Tragedy of Murder, Orr Ugoslabier, Ball Fortamaya, Kang The Rocket Whale, Aieb No Pen, PP’Dreams, Jino Pathological Sadism, Art Tryst, Pop Silence of Genocide, Art Sudden Face Down, Tern G6PD, Noom Teresa, Hye Paper Planes, and Tao Sweet Mullet). It’s one of the most meaningful shows we’ve ever done.
The next chapter for ANNALYNN, with four members standing strong, is all about reaching the finish line just the way they envisioned: with purpose and on a high note.
Boss: It just feels unfinished, like something’s still hanging in the air. I came back because I want to see it through, to finish what we set out to do.
Pob: There’s a start and an end to everything. We’ve always had a goal for how we wanted this story to finish, and this wasn’t the way. Now, no matter how things turn out, I’m not expecting much. Just being able to play and feel joy again, that’s more than enough.
Mong: It didn’t end well. It didn’t feel right. Part of why we came back is that there are still fans out there waiting for us.
S4S: So what’s the band’s current goal?
Pob: Right now, we’re still under contract with ‘Greyscale Records’, and our plan is to stay with the label until that contract ends. Once that time comes, we’ll see if we want to keep going from there.
S4S: คอนเซ็ปต์ ONE SONG/ONE GUEST เกิดขึ้นมาได้ยังไงครับ
Eak: หลังจากที่พวกเราคุยกันว่าจะไปต่อ ก็มองหาทางออกว่าจะไปต่อยังไงดี เพราะเราไม่มีนักร้องนำแล้ว เราต้องทำอะไรสักอย่างที่ทำให้ไฟของพวกเรากลับมาร้อนแรงอีกครั้ง เลยออกมาเป็นคอนเสิร์ต แต่ถ้าจะให้นักร้องคนใดคนนึงมาร้องเพลงทั้งหมดน่าจะไม่ดี เลยไปชวนเพื่อน ๆ ที่รู้จักมาร้องคนละเพลงตามความเหมาะสมของคน ๆ นั้นครับ
‘ANNALYNN’ กลับมาพร้อมเพลงใหม่อย่าง ‘White Flags’ ที่เพิ่งปล่อยเมื่อวันที่ 24 เมษายนที่ผ่านมา โดยเพลงนี้ได้ ‘ภพ’ มือกีตาร์เป็นคนร้องเองด้วย
S4S: ช่วยเล่าถึงความหมายของเพลง ‘White Flags’ ที่เพิ่งปล่อยหน่อยครับ
Pob: สำหรับเพลง ‘White Flags’ ครับ ความหมายไม่ได้มีอะไรซับซ้อนเลยครับ หมายถึง การที่พวกเรา 4 คน กลับมาเล่นดนตรีอีกครั้ง โดยไม่ยอมแพ้ต่อกับปัญหาที่เกิดขึ้นที่ทำให้พวกเราเกือบยกธงขาว ไม่ทำต่อแล้ว แต่พอเวลาผ่านไป พวกเรามานั่งคุยกันว่าเราจะยอมแพ้กันแค่นี้จริง ๆ เหรอ ที่เราทำมาตลอดระยะเวลาทั้งหมด มันยังไม่ถึงเป้าหมายที่วางไว้เลย อย่างน้อย ๆ ทำให้เส้นทางนี้มันจบสวยกว่านี้ดีกว่า มันเลยกลายมาเป็นเพลง ‘White Flags’ ครับ

S4S: Can you tell us about the meaning behind your new song, ‘White Flags’?
Pob: The message behind ‘White Flags’ is pretty straightforward. It’s about how the four of us chose to come back and keep making music, refusing to surrender. We’d been through a rough patch, rough enough that we nearly raised the white flag and called it quits. But after some time, we had a real conversation and asked, “Are we seriously giving up now, after all we’ve been through?” We hadn’t reached our destination yet. So if it’s going to end, let’s end it properly. And that’s what ‘White Flags’ is all about.
S4S: You sang ‘White Flags’ yourself, and the response from fans has been overwhelmingly positive. How does that feel?
Pob: I really appreciate all the support and love that’s come our way. I’ll keep giving it my all, for ‘ANNALYNN’ and for the fans who continue to wait for what’s next.
S4S: How did the ONE SONG/ONE GUEST concept come about?
Eak: Once we agreed to continue, we started looking for a way to move forward without a lead vocalist. We needed something that would bring our energy back, something to reignite the passion. That’s when the concert idea took shape. But we felt it wouldn’t work to have just one person sing the whole set. So we reached out to friends we know and asked each of them to sing one song, whichever one fit them best.
‘ANNALYNN’ made their return with a brand-new track titled ‘White Flags’, released on April 24. This song features guitarist ‘Pob’ taking on vocal duties himself.

S4S: พี่ภพร้องเองด้วยเพลงนี้ ผลตอบรับจากแฟนเพลงดีมาก รู้สึกยังไงบ้างครับ
Pob: ขอบคุณมาก ๆ ครับสำหรับคำชมและความรักที่ส่งมาให้วง ผมก็จะพยายามเต็มที่เพื่อ ‘ANNALYNN’ และคนที่ยังรอคอยผลงานจากเราอยู่ครับ
S4S: Can you tell us about the meaning behind your new song, ‘White Flags’?
Pob: The message behind ‘White Flags’ is pretty straightforward. It’s about how the four of us chose to come back and keep making music, refusing to surrender. We’d been through a rough patch, rough enough that we nearly raised the white flag and called it quits. But after some time, we had a real conversation and asked, “Are we seriously giving up now, after all we’ve been through?” We hadn’t reached our destination yet. So if it’s going to end, let’s end it properly. And that’s what ‘White Flags’ is all about.
S4S: You sang ‘White Flags’ yourself, and the response from fans has been overwhelmingly positive. How does that feel?
Pob: I really appreciate all the support and love that’s come our way. I’ll keep giving it my all, for ‘ANNALYNN’ and for the fans who continue to wait for what’s next.
S4S: แล้วอะไรเป็นสิ่งที่กำลังมองหาในตัวนักร้องนำคนใหม่อยู่ครับ
Eak: หาว่านักร้องนำคนใหม่อยู่ไหนนี่แหละครับ (หัวเราะ) ถ้าให้พูดจริง ๆ ต้องร้องดี แสดงดี ที่สำคัญคือ อุปนิสัยดี ต้องเข้ากับวงได้ เป็นสิ่งสำคัญมาก เราไม่ได้มองหาคนที่มีคุณภาพ 100% แต่มองหาคนที่สามารถพัฒนาไปพร้อมกับเราได้ ส่วนตัวไม่ได้ปิดกั้นว่าต้องเป็นคนไทยเพียงอย่างเดียวเท่านั้น
Pob: สำหรับผมที่เคยเป็นสมาชิกใหม่ ผมเชื่อเลยว่าเราไม่ได้ต้องการคนที่เพอร์เฟ็กต์ 100% แต่ต้องการคนที่ความคิดตรงกัน พัฒนาไปด้วยกัน อย่างที่บอกเราตามหานักร้องนำคนใหม่อยู่ ส่วนจะเจอไหมก็มารอดูกันครับ
S4S: What are you looking for in a new lead vocalist?
Eak: We’re still figuring out where that new vocalist is! (laughs) But seriously, we’re looking for someone who can sing well, perform well, and most importantly, has a good attitude and fits in with the band. We’re not expecting someone who’s 100% perfect, but someone who can grow with us. Personally, I’m open to anyone. It doesn’t have to be just someone from Thailand.
Pob: As someone who was once the “new guy” in the band, I can say with confidence that perfection isn’t what we’re after. We want someone who shares the same values and wants to move forward with us. We’re still searching for that person, so let’s wait and see what happens.
S4S: สุดท้ายอยากให้ฝากถึงคนที่ยังรอคอยผลงานและสนับสนุน ‘ANNALYNN’ เสมอมาหน่อยครับ
Boss: ขอบคุณแฟนเพลงทุกคนครับ สำหรับทุกกำลังใจที่ส่งเข้ามาตลอด เราได้อ่านทุกข้อความ สิ่งนั้นมีความหมายสำหรับพวกเรามาก เป็นเชื้อเพลิงอย่างดีที่ทำให้พวกเรากลับมาอีกครั้ง พูดได้เต็มปากว่า ‘ANNALYNN’ มีแฟนเพลงที่ดีที่รักพวกเราจริง ๆ ครับ
Mong: ขอบคุณเหมือนกันครับ ถึงแม้ว่าตอนที่เราหยุดไป ก็ยังมีแฟนเพลงคอยถามเราตลอดว่าจะเดินต่อไปยังไง ขอบคุณจริง ๆ ที่ไม่หมดหวังในตัวพวกเรา เราก็จะพยายามทำให้แฟนเพลงที่ยังรออยู่ได้มีความสุขแน่นอนครับ
Eak: ขอบคุณแฟนเพลงทุกคนจริง ๆ ครับ ถ้าไม่มีแฟนเพลงเหล่านี้ เราคงเลิกไปแล้ว ตลอดระยะเวลา 20 ปีที่ผ่านมา ถ้าเราไม่มีแฟนเพลง ก็คงไม่มี ‘ANNALYNN’ ในทุกวันนี้ครับ
Pob: นอกจากจะขอบคุณแฟนเพลงแล้ว ผมอยากขอบคุณทุกคนที่เกี่ยวข้องทุกคนครับที่ทำให้วงสามารถเดินต่อไปได้ ทั้งครอบครัวของผม ทีมงานทุกคน สปอนเซอร์ทุกท่าน ที่สำคัญคือ คุณจีโน่ Slamman ที่อยู่ข้างวงตลอด ตั้งแต่พาวงเข้าเซ็นสัญญาค่าย (Greyscale Records) และในช่วงเวลาที่วงมีปัญหา ขอบคุณทุกคนที่ผมกล่าวถึง ทุกคนคือเชื้อเพลิงอย่างดีที่ทำให้วงสามารถเดินต่อไปได้ครับ ขอบคุณจริง ๆ ครับ
S4S: Lastly, is there anything you’d like to say to the fans who’ve continued to support ‘ANNALYNN’ all along?
Boss: Thank you to every single fan for all the encouragement you’ve given us. We’ve read every message, and they truly mean the world to us. That support is the fuel that brought us back. I can honestly say ‘ANNALYNN’ is blessed with amazing fans who really love us.
Mong: I’m just as thankful. Even when we were inactive, fans kept asking what was next. Thanks for not giving up on us. We’ll do everything we can to bring joy to those who’ve kept waiting.
Eak: Truly, thank you to all our fans. Without you, we probably would’ve quit. Over the past 20 years, if we didn’t have you, there would be no ‘ANNALYNN’ today.
